El Ateneo, Buenos Aires (Argentina)
El Ateneo was a theatre at the old times but it turned into a bookshop located in the downtown Buenos Aires. El Ateneo Grand Splendid a very well known bookstore in Argentina. The Guardian says that it is the second most beautiful bookshop in the world. I don't really think that anyone can deny it ,because even from the photos, I literally fell in love with it. I can't even imagine reading all those books in my life. How great it would be! But we surely know that it is not really possible in reality.
El Ateneo was designed by Peró and Torres Armengol for Max Glücksmann (1875-1946), and opened as a theatre called Teatro Gran Splendid in May 1919. Would you believe it would be a home for thousands of books?
